SMTC, Inc. was chartered in 1974 as a non-profit educational institution in Texas by Montessori teachers for teacher training, materials development and consultation to Montessori schools.SMTC, Inc. is a mobile program, accredited by MACTE, recognized by the US Dept. of Education. SMTC, Inc. sends its training faculty to schools that propose a need for one cycle of teacher training at either the Early Childhood or Elementary I-II levels. The Center has 27 trainers, none with less than 10 years and most with more than 20 years Montessori teaching experience. Proposals are accepted from public and private Montessori schools that have a need for teacher training in their area.

Spring Valley Montessori Program was founded by Madeline J. Justus in 1951 in Seattle. It was moved to its present location in Federal Way in 1957. Numerous Montessori schools in Washington State were started by teachers trained by Madeline J. Justus. The program follows the classical Montessori approach while including all the new scientific and technological changes in the world.
