The Center for Montessori Teacher Education/North Carolina (CMTE/NC) has been training Montessori teachers for twenty four years. The center is directed by Ceres Schroer York who has been involved with Montessori since 1968. CMTE/NC offers four levels: Infant & Toddler, Early Childhood, and Elementary I & II. Our presenters have many years of experience and our Infant and Toddler lead presenter is certified in RIE and trained under internationally known Magda Gerber. Our Elementary program is not only involved in training for the private school sector, but also in the public school sector. We have been training public Montessori elementary school teachers for over seventeen years all over the southeast. Our Early Childhood also works with the public school system’s kindergarten level. Upon graduation, all of our students enjoy the freedom we offer in allowing them to come back for refresher seminars for continuing education. The Missouri Montessori Teacher Education Program (MOMTEP), established in 1990, is a not-for-profit corporation composed of dedicated Montessori professionals who are working together to develop and promote Montessori as an excellent method for educating children in the private and public sectors by providing a Montessori Early Childhood Teaching Credential. MOMTEP is fully accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) and affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS)). In addition to earning an early childhood teaching credential from the American Montessori Society, MOMTEP graduates may receive from the University of Missouri-St. Louis graduate credit hours or undergraduate credit hours toward a degree.

Montessori Educators International, Inc. has offered since 1990 quality education courses for adults who desire to become certified Montessori teachers. Detailed instructional manuals are provided, eliminating the need for student-made “albums.” This allows more time for essential practice with and preparation of Montessori materials. The Montessori Training Center of Minnesota will offer its 30th AMI Primary course this September and its 2nd AMI Elementary Course this June. In addition, we are preparing to offer the AMI Assistants to Infancy course in September 2008. We continue with our expansion plans and move to the East Side of St. Paul in 2008. In addition to the above courses, we will be opening a school for children as well as an International Montessori Museum for research and development. After traveling around the country for the Montessori centenary, the Museum will find its permanent home at the MTCM.

This PAMS affiliated, MACTE accredited M.Ed. program is the only university level Montessori teacher education program in the state of Georgia. Equipped with over $35,000 in materials, our state-of-the-art model classroom is the only one of its kind in the country. SMTC, Inc. was chartered in 1974 as a non-profit education institution in Texas by Montessori teachers for teacher training, materials development and consultation to Montessori schools.

At present it is a mobile program accredited by MACTE, recognized by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

SMTC, Inc. sends its training faculty to schools that propose a need for one cycle of teacher training at either the Early Childhood or Elementary I-II levels. The Center has 27 trainers, none with less than 20 years Montessori teaching experience. Proposals are accepted from public and private Montessori schools that have a need for teacher training in their area.
