International Montessori Index
<http://www.montessori.edu>
The International Montessori Index is a worthwhile site, if a bit enigmatic.

Operator Susan Stephenson of Michael Olaf Company is a passionate believer in doing Montessori well and it shows in the description she includes.

The site is, however, a bit misleading in a couple ways.

Its address—www.montessori.edu—is one of the Internet prizes and, because of its apparent link to a university, certainly steers much traffic to the site. Stephenson started it in collaboration with Loyola University of Baltimore and kept it as her private-sector operation through a "grandfather" provision when "edu" domains were limited to institutionally accredited American post-secondary institutions in 2001.

Stephenson writes, "The International Montessori Index was created to provide detailed comparative information in order to help in the search for a school or training center." Yet, because it includes only those centers that pay for listing, it had, as of January 2009, information on only five of the more than 125 teacher education centers in North America. Its school listings were limited to links to AMI-USA and the North American Montessori Teachers' Association databases, which include a fraction of the 4,300 schools that are identified as "Montessori" in the U.S.

Still there is a lot of material worth reading.
